Valerie Mendelson is a painter and an art historian based in New York City, with deep ties to France and to Maine. Her work has been shown in NYC at the George Billis Gallery, the Prince Street Gallery, the Westbeth Gallery,  the Bowery Gallery, The Jeffrey Leder Gallery, the Laurel Tracey Gallery and the Painting Center among other venues. Her articles have been published by Routledge Press, Bloomsbury Press, Antipodes, Open Library for the Humanities and the International Journal of the Book among others, With poet, performer and essayist Thomas March she is the co-creator of A Good Mixer. She teaches at The New School.
